WHAT WE DO

Dataspeed designs flexible, cost-effective, and reliable automotive and industrial electronics that address the problems of a growing technical industry. Our mission is to make sure everything from the circuit board to the complete electrical system meets the customer’s needs.

HOW WE DO IT

Dataspeed’s design process encompasses schematic capture, PCB layout, BOM generation, component sourcing, manufacturing and inspection. We design, produce and test hardware and prototypes in-house.

Dataspeed’s collaboration between the electrical, mechanical and software departments, allows us to perform rapid prototyping, resulting in faster market-ready, tailor-made solutions.

Dataspeed’s expertise in automotive and industrial electronics includes processor-based controllers, DC-DC power supplies and battery charging circuits. We also have experience with several high-speed digital interfaces such as:

Software Engineering

WHAT WE DO

Dataspeed’s expert engineers develop cutting-edge software for driverless vehicles and mobile robots.

HOW WE DO IT

Our software engineering capabilities encompass everything from low-level microcontroller firmware to high-level intelligent algorithms. This includes embedded software design, development and testing implemented in C and assembly language with real-time constraints. We create low-level drivers for many communication protocols including UART, LIN, I2C, SPI, CAN, USB and Ethernet based devices. Additionally, we create high level software within multiple environments including MATLAB, dSPACE, and ROS.

Mechanical Engineering

WHAT WE DO

Dataspeed develops and creates the parts that make robots move and cars drive themselves. We design and develop the complete mechanical package needed to support our electronic systems.

HOW WE DO IT

Using 3D CAD modeling and simulation, we design and develop mechanical parts. Depending on the application, we use custom sheet-metal, weldments, 3D printing, injection-molding or machined components. Our strategic suppliers support high quality builds of mechanical components for quantities of any amount.

Algorithm Development

WHAT WE DO

Dataspeed’s industry-leading engineers create software algorithms that make robots and driverless cars perform useful tasks.

HOW WE DO IT

Our engineers have the ability to develop advanced sensing and control algorithms. The algorithms are developed using C++ in a ROS environment. Detailed simulations help provide initial validation, and then recorded data is used to transition to real-world systems. Thorough testing is performed to fine-tune the systems. The algorithms Dataspeed creates include:

  • Sensor fusion systems based on Kalman filtering
  • Particle filters and Bayesian inference models
  • 2D and 3D SLAM for driverless vehicle navigation
  • Adaptive control of uncertain systems
  • 3D perception of objects to be grasped by a robotic manipulator
  • Segmentation and processing of point cloud data to detect track object motion in line with a 3D LIDAR sensor
